Calli Giroux

Artist Overview

Calli Giroux is a visual artist and a Bachelor of Fine Arts student with a focus on painting and printmaking. His practice reflects his lived experiences and perspectives as a Métis person and Type One Diabetic. Calli’s work often bridges the natural and digital worlds and draws from his artistic roots as a multimedia artist. Calli views his work as an extension of himself, and many of his artworks are driven by an interest in expressing the complexities of navigating wellness, disability, and medical systems.

Calli’s project for the McMullen Gallery concerns the often complicated relationships that users hold with adaptive technology. Through printmaking, Calli will explore the insulin pump, drawing both from his personal experiences and from its early design and pharmaceutical marketing in the 1960s.
